Clutch.io Joins the Flock at Twitter!

We are incredibly excited to announce that we’ve joined the flock at Twitter! Twitter has acquired the IP of Clutch.io and today is our first day with the company. Our mission over the last few months has been to help mobile developers iterate fast and grow their user base.  Now, as part of Twitter’s growth & international team, we’re excited for the opportunity to focus our efforts on Twitter’s product at a large scale.

We know that there are many of you who love the Clutch Framework and Clutch A/B Testing, and you may be wondering: what happens to my apps?  We’re happy to announce that over the coming weeks we will make available everything you need to run Clutch.io on your own servers, so that even after our hosted service is no longer running, you can continue to operate it on your own.  We plan on leaving our hosted service active and supported until November 1st.  Also remember that all of our libraries are designed to fail gracefully when the service cannot be reached, so your users will never notice a thing.

We’d like to thank all of our users for their great feedback and inspiration, our incredible investors and advisors for their support and insight, and of course Twitter.

Make sure to follow us on Twitter! @ericflo and @etmaguire

Announcing Native A/B Testing for iOS and Android

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a month since we launched the Clutch Framework, but we’ve been absolutely floored by the feedback we’ve gotten so far.  Rest assured we’re working hard to continue to improve the Clutch Framework, port it to other platforms, and make it even easier to use.  The thing that surprised us the most after launch, however, was how many of you have asked us for A/B testing capabilities.

That’s why today we’re announcing the private beta of our second product offering: A/B testing for iOS and Android.  You don’t need to use the Clutch Framework to take advantage of this new product—it’s 100% native and works with all native apps.  If you do use our framework, it’s just an added bonus that makes even more rapid testing possible.

Please check out the new APIs, apply to be in the beta program, and let us know what you think!  (We’d love to open it up to all, but alas, this service needs to scale up more cautiously.)

New Screencasts!

We’ve recently recorded a few more screencasts including a complete walkthrough of our demo app “Imgs”. You can check them out in the screencast section of our docs. We think these will help you out quite a bit when getting started with Clutch.

New Pricing!

Your feedback has has been invaluable over the past few days.  One of the most common things you have told us is that our pricing seemed a bit off.  Thanks to your suggestions and comments, we’ve decided to make some huge adjustments to the pricing.  The goal was to hopefully make it more affordable and reward those awesome customers who decide to buy higher plans with cheaper rates.

Every single plan is cheaper, so we know that some of you who signed up for paid plans will want to switch.  Fortunately, since we’re new enough for all of our paying users to still be in our free trial period, we were able to switch every user to the new plans automatically.

Thank you for your patience and your support for us!

Updates from Clutchland

No need for an invite code

We’ve opened up to the public—no longer do you need an invite code!  We’re not changing our mindset though, we still want tons of feedback from everyone.  What’s working?  What’s difficult?  Please continue to let us know! support@clutch.io

More control over the loading spinner

Introduced today is the ability to control the vertical position of the loading spinner.  The updated documentation shows the new method and how to use it.  No longer is it right in the middle of the screen, but it can be positioned at any vertical position you want.

Ability to Delete and Rename Apps

A lot of you started out with a “test” app or a “hello world” app.  That’s awesome!  We do that too.  But you don’t want that app sticking around forever, and neither do we.  Now under the App Settings section of your app, you have the ability to delete and rename any of your apps.  Not the sexiest feature ever created, but hopefully it helps some of you out.

Anatomy of an App Using Clutch

We’ve been really happy with the reception to the Quick Start guide, but some of you have told us that it leaves some questions unanswered.  That’s why we’ve just created this new page explaining how everything fits together and how all of the pieces work.  Thanks for continuing to let us know when things are unclear, and we’ll continue to improve our documentation and instructions!

New: Quick Start Guide

One of the common pieces of feedback we got during the earlier days of Clutch was that it wasn’t entirely clear how to get started.  To address this we’ve added a new Quick Start Guide that we’re very excited about, which should help you either get started with a new project, or integrate Clutch into an existing project.

Example of the quick start guide in action

To access the quick start guide for yourself, either create a new app, or click on one of your apps and then click on the “Quick Start” link on the left navigation bar.  Once you’re into the quick start, look for the big green selector to decide whether you’re starting a new project or integrating into an existing one.

If you hit any points that are unclear, please let us know at support@clutch.io.  The feedback from our beta testers have been invaluable already in making it easier and clearer to use.

Pull-To-Refresh with Clutch

We’ve just published a new article in our documentation about how to integrate enormego.com’s excellent EGOTableViewPullRefresh library with Clutch.  It’s such a common task for apps to do these days, that we wanted to make sure everyone knew exactly how to do it with Clutch.  Best of all, it’s not hard to do at all!

We wanted to better explain what we’re working on here at Clutch, so we put together this short video.  Hope you like it!

iOS development is about to get a lot faster

We’re so excited about helping developers to build and iterate faster on their apps.  We’re still in private beta mode right now, but if you want access early, e-mail us at support@clutch.io and we’ll figure something out.
